"Inkscapes" is a 12 week long series I created during my senior year at Columbus College of Art and Design. In this series I would first create a variety of random ink blots on paper. After creating dozens, I would find one particular sketch that inspired me compositionally. Then, with a scanned version of the inkblot, I would paint over it in photoshop, using it as a compositional "thumbnail" for the final illustration.
I wanted to create this series because I constantly look for new ways to challenge my process. I'm always looking to approach my paintings in new and interesting ways, to help keep myself fresh. This series was challenging yet incredibly rewarding, and really helped me solidify my take on broad mark making in my sketches.
